1. Create Shortcut application: Create desktop and Start menu shortcuts to Web applications like Gmail - go to Gmail.com, and then select the menu page of Control (in the upper right corner of your browser - it looks like to a page with the corner bent over). Now choose where you want to place your shortcut. This works for other applications like Google Calendar and documents, and other services, such as Windows Live Hotmail.

2. Control + Shift + N opens a ‘incognito’ window - sites that do not appear in this window at its history and cookies provided by the sites of this window will be removed when the window is closed.

3. You can open a link in a window incognito on the right, click on the link and selecting “Open link in the window incognito.

4. Home + Alt loads of chromed Google home page, with thumbnails of the most visited sites are displayed in the active window with tabs.

5. Control + T opens a new tab. You can drag the tabs around to change their order or drag a tab of the window in its own window.

6. Control + T opened its newest closed tab. Press the key combination to open the tab closed again before one. Google Chrome recalls the last 10 tabs that you’ve closed.

7. Jump to different tabs open, using the Control 1, Control 2, Control 3, etc. Control 9 takes you to the last tab.

8. Tab control allows you to cycle through your open tabs in order.

9. Tab Control of the cycles of change through their tabs in the opposite order.

10. As with Firefox 3, you can drag a link in a tab to open in that tab, or fall between two tabs to open a new tab in that position.

11. To bookmark a site, click the star to the left of the address bar, then select a folder to add a. 12. Control + B hides chromed bar favorites. Press Control B to bring it back again.

13. Right-click and hold down the back button and get a list of sites through again. Show the whole story at the bottom of the list, opening a new window with your browser’s history.

14. Control H is a faster way to open the page of history. 15. You can erase history by day chosen by the movement until the day you want to delete and click Delete the history of this day on the right side of the window.

Create and Save Profiles. Google Chrome Backup is a freely downloadable tool that lets you backup and restore profiles you’ve created in Chrome. It’s wizard-driven, to keep the process easy.

Run Chrome on Mac OS X and Linux. CrossOver Chromium from CodeWeavers can be used to run Chrome on Mac OS X and Linux. You’ll find downloads specific to most popular Linux distros. Even CodeWeavers describes this as early “proof-of-concept” more than anything else, but you may want to give it a try.

Surf Anonymously in Chrome. The Chromium open source core of the Chrome browser has been tweaked to produce aersion of Chrome that can allow for anonymous browsing. People in parts of the world where Internet use can lead quickly to jail time may be interested in this, or hotspot users who want an added layer of anonymity may be interested. Iron is based on Chromium, looks and works exactly like Chrome, but introduces several levels of privacy, as we wrote about here. Chrome Privacy Guard is a mini application that removes all client ID information when you use Chrome.

Use the About: Pages. Like Firefox, Google Chrome can pull up a ton of useful diagnostic and other types of information if you type about: commands in Chrome’s address bar. For example, type about:plugins to get the list of plugins available for Chrome. The Google operating system blog has a good list of these.
